A Year in Review

We made it through another year, yay team! It’s good that we all have a great sense of humour, as this last year has been challenging but exciting for First Impression Designs.

We welcomed two new babies into the world and into the First Impression Designs family. Aina with her second baby, a beautiful little girl named Harlie and Rebecca also welcomed baby number three, a bouncing baby boy named Johan. Justine returned from maternity leave with her first, Atlas, who will soon be meeting his new brother or sister in the new year. The First Impression Designs family is growing!

Two new interior designers joined our team, Victoria Andino and Taylor Mutter. Victoria has taken on the challenges of working with some new clients as well as some spec home projects and we love her zest for design. Taylor has just started with us so she’s just getting her feet wet. She’s done a great job with some 3D drawings and helped with our first show home of the year with more to come in 2023.

We also welcomed Lindsey who is our do it all around the office saviour. When we have IT issues or need help to get all organized she is the one we run to, she is also the face behind our social media. What would we do without her!

Cheryl has been an integral part of the design team handling most of our private clients. She has embraced all of the organizing, maintaining and serving of these cherished clients. She is also my right hand and I am blessed to have her on this journey with me.

Justine has been working closely with some of our larger builders, working extremely hard on all of our design packages and working drawings. She has also taken on drawing and 3D renders for a number of our other clients. We will definitely miss her while she is away on maternity leave next month!

We worked on so many great projects this year that it was hard to pick which to highlight, but these 3 really sum up the year.

It was such a joy working on this beautiful home in Burnaby with KFA Homes. The style inspiration behind this home was West Coast Transitional, and elements of cozy comfort. We loved how the hardwood floors and the white and wood cabinets shine next to the black in the light fixtures, window trims and stair spindles. The oversized windows and high ceilings balancing all the cozy elements below are what makes this house a home.

This project in Squamish by Sunnycrest homes turned out beautifully. The warmth from the wood flooring, the perfectly grained wood cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms and the black beams are what make this project the epitome of bring nature indoors. Our favourite feature though? The fireplace and wood slatted wall in the great room! Definitely the pièce de résistance in this stunning home.

The comfort the exudes from this refined farmhouse by Foxridge Qualico Homes is what made this home one of our favourites of the year. We can’t get enough of the wide plank wood floors, stunning wood beams and shiplap fireplace. The large open concept kitchen with sky high cabinets and stunning black appliances is definitely the heart of the home. The sectional in the great room turned out beautifully and is so inviting, like a hug on a cold winter’s day. We are all in love with the primary bedroom and ensuite, the large shower has ample storage; once you enter you may never want to leave.

Each of these projects showcased such unique design elements and plenty of features to fall in love with. We hope our year end recap inspired you to the endless possibilities of a home. We wish you all the best in the new year and can’t wait to work closely with all of you again!

Here’s to an exciting 2023!
