Pantone Colour Of The Year 2022

It’s a new year, which means there is a new Pantone Color of the Year. If you have been following along with our blogs for a while, you were probably expecting this post, as we write about it every year. If you are a new reader, welcome and let’s give you a bit of background information on Pantone.

Pantone is known as the global colour authority, created in 1963, it has helped standardize colours across industries such as design, plastics and textiles.

Announcing The Color of the Year started in 2000, with the intention to trend set for marketing, branding or just global creativity. This year, for the first time ever they have created a new colour for the occasion, as life has changed significantly over the last few years. The colour is PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri and the explanation behind it is that blue represents the emotional side of where people have been in the last two years as well as the blue light of our screens that we have been looking at more and more. However, we keep forging forward with strength and positivity, which is why they added a violet red undertone. The colour is believed to represent where we have been, where we are in time and where we are going.

Feeling inspired by Very Peri? Here are a few ways you can incorporate it into your home.

making the commitment

If you are already a major fan of purple, then you may be willing to commit to it wholeheartedly. In that case, why not paint a few walls, add some wallpaper/ mural to a room or even repaint some old cabinets to add a statement into your home.

love, but not crazy in love

Finding Very Peri enticing, but don’t want to redesign your whole home or a whole room around it? Add it in the form of textiles such as upholstery, rugs or drapery to an otherwise neutral room.

cute, but may change my mind

If you like to be part of trends in interior design, but are aware they are ever changing, just make simple adjustments to your accessories such as décor and bedding to incorporate the 2022 colour into your home.

It is often said that colour is subjective and is in the eye of the beholder. Now if you ever disagree with anyone in regards to a colour, you can consult Pantone and find out what the true name and composition is!

Happy Thursday!
