Valentine’s Day Table Settings
Staying in on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you have to stick to the daily norm. A Valentine’s date at home can be even more romantic than going out to a restaurant full of other couples, and much more affordable. A well-thought-out tablescape can set the mood for the evening; if it’s an intimate dinner for two or a “Galentine’s Day” dinner party (while making your homemade meal look even better ). Here are our top tips for creating a table that will wow your loved one!
Candles
Candlelit dinners are the epitome of a romantic night and are such an easy item to dress up your dining table. Candles come in all different shapes, sizes and colours that can match any decor style. When setting a table for two we adore a cluster of tapered candles at various heights, this could be different holders or the candles themselves. Depending on the mood you’re trying to create, different combinations make for the perfect fit. If a dark moody scene is what you’re trying to achieve try going for darker candles or vintage holders. Cream and blush candles can create a soft romantic ambience. No matter what combination you go with there is no going wrong with a romantic candlelit evening.
Textiles
Sometimes the textiles of a table can get lost when thinking about dinnerware and centrepieces, but they are vital in creating an Instagram-worthy table setting. When we use the term “textiles” we’re referring to the fabrics on a table, ie. napkins, placemats, table clothes, etc. The textiles on a table can be broken down into a couple of different key elements. First, let’s talk about napkins, and no we don’t mean just a paper towel! Fabric napkins can bring a table setting to the next level of refinement, and when it’s a dinner for two the laundry won’t be too bad . How the napkin is presented is up to you! A simple knotted napkin placed on each plate can give an effortless chicness. You can always go all out too! With flowers or love notes tied to each one.
When thinking of the next textile to add to the table we can’t get enough of the table runner trend! A runner can be placed over a tablecloth or used alone and run lengthwise down the centre of the table. Runners come in all different fabrics and colours, the gathered linen look is perfect for capturing a soft romantic atmosphere.
Flowers
A floral centrepiece can seem like a no brainer when creating a Valentine’s Day table, but don’t get stuck in the box of a simple vase of flowers. Dried flowers are perfect for adding texture to a table, lay them out flat for a garland look or create smaller bundles in bud vases. If flowers just aren’t your thing try different types of greens! Eucalyptus or olive branches are both in style and look stunning on a table. Maybe leave a vase out for a surprise bouquet or just go get that bouquet for yourself!
Creating a beautiful table can take a regular Tuesday and turn it in to a special date night. Don’t forget to add your style and your partner will love what you bring together!
Happy Thursday!
